Narrate Your Own Story

Good Afternoon and Happy Sunday to everyone. As the new year began, you probably saw on more than one occasion where individuals were posting pictures or comments on social media in regards to the new year being the first page of their 365 page book and if you saw it, you were probably intrigued at the idea of keeping a year long log of your life. However, this shouldn't be something new to you because whether you realize it or not your life is a story that you are constantly writing each and every day and everything that you do is a part of that story. The question then becomes how can you write a story of YOUR life and not know it? Well the answer is simple........everyone writes a story of their life but not everyone narrates it and because they are not the narrator, they are not in control of how their story is told. This week's Tip For The Week is "Narrate Your Own Story".

Often times in life, we let others dictate the paths that we take, decisions that we make and the actions that become a representation of who we are (or perceived to be) and because of this we find ourselves writing a story that is not in the vision of who we see ourselves as or where we want to be but rather who others see us as and possibly the status quo that we allow them to place us under. When we do this, we give them our story and wait for them to tell us how it will turn out and more times than not, their narration could not be more inaccurate and the reason that it is inaccurate is because you are not the narrator. No one can tell your story better than you because no one knows the full aspect of yourself as you do.

Those around you may see you as a doctor......you may want to be a lawyer instead.......sure you may have the brain to find the cure for cancer, however being that they don't know the full aspect of yourself as you do, they have no idea that along with the brain to find the cure for cancer, you also have the speaking ability to argue why the cure (when it is found) should be made available and affordable to everyone who has cancer.........You are the only one who can narrate that story. You may be a computer prodigy who knows a computer like the back of your hand, however all of the computer companies require that you have a college degree in order to work for them..........you may feel like college won't teach you anything about computers that you don't already know so you decide to start your own company and show the world that you don't have to have a college degree to be qualified (Sounds familiar?) You are the only one who can narrate that story.

There are many scenarios and examples that can be used and they all come back to the fact that no one should be able to narrate your story except you. They may be able to contribute to how the story turns out, but they should never be the one who narrates it. You are the author and main character of your life and no one knows your life as you do therefore no one can narrate your life but you because No One Can B.U. But You!

Have A Great Week!
